Yankees still playing with short roster as Athletics series begins
The Yankees have 26 players on their active roster for Friday night's series opener against the Athletics, only 25 of them are with the team and there's a chance that only 24 are truly available. Backup catcher J.C. Escarra is unofficially on the paternity list. Reliever Jonathan Loáisiga is still out of commission as well. The Yankees considered putting Escarra on the paternity list, calling up a player from Triple-A for the few days he's away from the team, but they ultimately decided against it.
